São Paulo – The Brazilian companies participating in Mactech, an industrial machinery and equipment fair, promoted from November 25th to 28th, in Cairo, returned home satisfied with the contacts made at the event. According to the Foreign Trade analyst at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Nadia Abdallah, Brazilian representatives believe that after the fair they should find distributors for their products.
The Arab Brazilian Chamber stand at Mactech included three companies, Indústrias Reunidas Colombo and Tatu Marchesan, both in agricultural machinery, and the Apema, of industrial equipment. "The fair had a qualified audience," said Nadia. According to her, among the Egyptians who visited the Brazilian stand were exclusive representatives of multinational New Holland, of agricultural equipment.
The multinational’s local representatives spoke to the Brazilians and invited them to participate in another fair in Cairo, Sahara, in agricultural technology, to take place in late 2011. It is a traditional fair that has reached its 23rd edition.
Despite the fair being sectorial, the Arab Brazilian Chamber stand received many Egyptians interested in importing furniture, medical equipment, auto parts and agricultural commodities, among others, from Brazil. According to Nadia, the public at the Brazilian stand demonstrated that they knew much about the Brazilian market, and most already imported some kind of commodity from the country.
Those interested in Brazilian agricultural machinery and equipment said that their main suppliers were companies from Germany, Italy, China and Taiwan. According to Nadia, the Egyptians like negotiating with Brazilian companies that have local distributors, representative offices or intermediaries in the country. "If not, it is difficult to do business with them," said the analyst.
Among the exporters at Mactech, there were companies from Egypt, with a pavilion with 150 companies, India, also with 150 exhibitors, Germany, with 133, Taiwan, with 115, Italy, with 89 and China, with 75 companies.
Apart from the three companies at the Brazilian stand, Starret, a maker of tools and measurement instruments participated in the Mactech with its own stand. This was the first time that the Arab Brazilian Chamber participated in Mactech.
