Brasília – The Brazilian federal government grossed BRL 109.751 billion in August, which means real (inflation-discounted) growth of 1.08% over August 2017. Year-to-date through August, tax collection reached BRL 953.621 billion, up 6.94% year-on-year. This was the best result in August and year-to-date through August since 2014. The numbers were made public this Friday (21) by the Brazilian Federal Revenue.
The Federal Revenue said the result is mainly explained by improved corporate results and a decline in corporate debt compensations, leading to a 10.53% hike in collection of corporate income taxes Imposto de Renda Pessoa Jurídica (IRPJ) and Contribuição Social sobre o Lucro Líquido (CSLL) from non-financial companies. IRPJ/CSLL revenues climbed to BRL 14.639 billion in August from BRL 13.244 billion in August 2017.
