Brasília – Federal revenue amounted to BRL 119.951 billion (USD 28.829 billion) last August, the Federal Revenue Secretariat reported this Tuesday (24). Real growth from a year ago reached 5.67%. It’s the highest result for the month since August 2014 (BRL 124.372 billion [USD 29.891]).
Year-to-date, revenue reached BRL 1.015 trillion (USD 243 billion), which means real (inflation-discounted) growth of 2.39%. Inflation-discounted figure reached BRL 1.023 trillion (USD 246 billion), the highest revenue for the period since 2014 too, when it reached BRL 1,030 trillion [USD 248 billion) in figures adjusted for inflation.
The head of the Center for Tax and Customs Studies, Claudemir Malaquias, said the result in August as well as July was driven by extraordinary revenues of around BRL 5.2 billion [USD 1.2 billion] from corporate income taxes Imposto de Renda Pessoa Jurídica (IRPJ) and Contribuição Social sobre o Lucro Líquido (CSLL).
