São Paulo – Next Thursday (2nd), the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina (Fiesc, in the Portuguese acronym) will launch a business mission to the Gulf, due in November, during the Big 5 construction fair in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The launch will take place at the Fiesc headquarters.
Fiesc has been promoting the mission for several years now, on behalf of the National Federation of Industries (CNI), with support from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. For that reason, the mission is open to enterprises from across Brazil, and not only from Santa Catarina. This edition will include an additional trip to Qatar, in addition to activities in the Emirates.
To mark the launch of the mission, a seminar on business opportunities in the Gulf will be held, featuring the Arab Brazilian Chamber CEO Michel Alaby. He will discuss the economies and projects underway in the region, such as the Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali, Dubai, a planned district named Dubai Industrial City and the works for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The event is free of charge and open to construction-related products and services companies.
Exports of building materials from Brazil to the Arab countries amounted to US$ 41 million last year, up 51% from the same period of 2010, with the Emirates accounting for more than half the total, according to Arab Brazilian Chamber figures.
However, the share of Brazilian products on the market in Qatar, one of the countries in which the industry grows the most in the region, is still small. It is worth noting that major Brazilian construction companies are operating in both Arab countries.
In addition to taking part in the mission, the Brazilian pavilion at the Big 5, the leading fair for the industry in the Middle East, will be organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber, in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex).
