São Paulo – Available in over 80 countries, sportswear brand Labellamafia of Santa Catarina, Brazil broke into the Lebanese market this year. It got a query via its website and struck a partnership with a reseller in Beirut.
“They buy our clothing to resell in multi-brand stores,” says Export analyst Camila Bergefch. Labellamafia manufactures women’s fitness wear and sports-style clothing for men and women. According to the analyst, the Lebanese buys mostly fitness items.
“We work with four collections each year. They made the first order in July and we have shipped two batches so far. By mid-November they should be ordering the third batch to renew the collection,” Bergefch claims. The orders comprised 300 items each.
Lebanon isn’t the first Arab country the brand sells to. Labellamafia sold product to the United Arab Emirates a few years back, but doesn’t anymore. Its top buyers right now are the United States, Spain and Mexico. The brand has franchise shops in these countries and an outlet in the Netherlands, with new ones set to open in Venezuela and Colombia.
Bergefch says Labellamafia often goes to international fitness industry exhibitions, and that the last collection saw 30,000 pieces of clothing shipped abroad. The current collection had 25,000 items exported so far.
The items are also on sale on www.labellamafiaclothing.com, which delivers worldwide.
Labellamafia has been on the market since 2007, is based in São José, Santa Catarina, and has a staff of approximately 400.
