Cairo – Tuesday (12) will see the start in Egyptian capital Cairo of the eighth edition of Food Africa 2023. The food industry show includes other exhibitions that focus on packaging, fresh produce, seafood, and dates. Over 500 global buyers are expected. Dalia Kabeel, CEO of Food Africa organizer Konzept, said that in recent years the Egyptian food industry has constantly grown. She said that the results are due to the good reputation that the country’s food items have earned both locally and globally, thus making them able to compete with major global companies.
The industry’s exports accounted for 14% of Egypt’s overall shipments in 2022, at USD 4.1 billion. This drew the attention of investors to the industry. In the past seven years, the numbers of companies operating in the industry in the country grew by 325%.
Kabeel says that Food Africa has become Africa’s most important food industry event. It allows experts to keep abreast of the developments in the industry, keep contact with local, regional and global manufacturers, congregate interests of buyers and suppliers, as well as seeking investment opportunities in Egypt, and the Middle East and North Africa as a whole.
Kabeel explained that the current edition of the show will feature over 900 exhibitors from 35 countries, including Germany, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Brazil, China, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, France, Jordan, Libya, Poland, Russia, and Tunisia. It’s expected to welcome over 27,000 visitors and over 500 global buyers, as well as 100 speakers.
A mission from the Brazilian government will include a participation in Food Africa. The delegation was organized by ministries and supported by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) to Kenya, Egypt and Ethiopia from December 6 to 15. The Food Africa is in the program during the visit to Egypt, and Brazilians aim to present their halal-certified food production.
