Brasília – The federal government made the authorization process to import foods of animal origin easier. The companies don’t need to send a representative to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA, acronym in Portuguese) anymore, and starting on Friday (15) may request authorization online.
According to the Ministry of Economy, this measure reduces the time it takes to issue an authorization. The expectation is that the online process will allow a 7-day timeframe from the request to the authorization. The process used to take an average of 40 days. Last year, MAPA received 79,259 authorization requests to import.
