The ABCC’s president Rubens Hannun will kick off the event. Its secretary-general Tamer Mansour will wrap up the proceedings, and its Institutional Relations manager Fernanda Baltazar will be the moderator.
Parenti will discuss the business potential of Arab markets for the food industry. Al Qasimi will go over post-Covid-19 food security in the Arab Gulf. Ozemela will speak on the current situation in Qatar and opportunities available in the lead-up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Solimeo will present opportunities for Brazil’s food industry in the Arab countries. The event will end with a Q&A session.
Arab countries are rolling out projects designed to diversify their economies away from the oil industry. They are investing in ensuring food security for their populations and working to develop domestic agribusiness. Over the past decade, Brazil cemented its status as the premier source of food items for Arab countries.
Despite the pandemic, food and beverage exports from Brazil to the Arab world were up 2.84% in 2020 from 2019 to USD 7.83 billion. Top-selling products included sugar, poultry, maize, beef and soybeans.
The economic growth expected to come to pass in the Arab world in the next 10 to 20 years; Brazil’s excellent bilateral relations with that part of the world; and its food industry’s increasing ability to help attain global food security all enable the expansion and diversification of trade.
