Brasilia – The mechanisms for attracting investments are the theme of the 10th Latin American Conference of Free Zones, event held for the first time in the country that integrates the programme of the 3rd Amazon International Fair (Fiam 2006), which starts today (30) and carries on up to the 2nd of September in Manaus. The conference is promoted by the Committee of Free Zones of the Americas in partnership with the Superintendence of the Manaus Free Zone (Suframa). The minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Luiz Fernando Furlan, should participate of the opening of the event, to be held in Manaus.
According to Suframa, some 400 participants are expected for the conference, between them, representatives of the free zones of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Porto Rico, Dominican Republic. During the event there will be debates on issues such as the contribution of the incentive policies for development, globalisation and the free trade treaties.
