São Paulo – Frigomaq, a maker of machinery and equipment for the food industry, like chicken slaughterhouses and sausage producers, already exports to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and plans to increase sales to the Middle East and North Africa in 2011.
"We still have much to develop on the market, as we know about the great consumer potential. Some regions, especially in Africa, are developing, which shows us some trade opportunities," said Leomar Iczak, export manager at the company.
According to the manager, the factory has a chicken slaughterhouse, inaugurated approximately one year ago. "It works as a true window and is always available to our customers for visits and equipment testing," said Iczak.
The slaughterhouse was built respecting some norms of halal slaughter, with bleeding turned to Mecca. "In the near future, we will have the necessary certification and also chicken as an export product," he pointed out.
Machinery exports began in 2002, initially in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay. As time went by, the company also started operating in Uruguay, Venezuela, Costa Rica and Peru.
"We have commercial representatives in some countries, like, for example, Argentina and Costa Rica. However, in some places we operate directly," said the manager.
To guarantee contact with buyers, the company usually participates in fairs like the International Meat Business, Processing and Production Trade Show (Mercoagro) and the International Technology Fair for the Meat Industry (Tecnocarne), important Brazilian fairs that take place each year. Apart from that, the company has already participated in the International Poultry Expo, in Atlanta, in the United States.
Frigomaq was established in 1992, in Chapecó, Santa Catarina. It employs 70 people and has annual revenues of approximately 12 million reals (US$ 7.1 million).
