Frozen and awarded mashed fruit
FrutaSã, based in the northeastern Brazilian state of Maranhão, produces mashed fruit and generates income for small farmers and Indian tribes in the state. The company, which is the economic arm of Frutos do Cerrado (Fruit of the Savannah) Project, is the only Brazilian representative among the companies shortlisted for the Equator Prize, by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
