São Paulo – Two retailers from the United Arab Emirates and Egypt are among the 24 importers of furniture and accessories invited to participate, on the 29th this month, in the International Business Meeting that precedes the Brazilian High-End Furniture Manufacturers Association (Abimad). The exhibition per se will run from July 30th to August 2nd at the Imigrantes Exhibition Centre, in the city of São Paulo.
The company from the Emirates is 2XL, from Dubai. According to the market development analyst for Abimad, Bruno Silveira, this will be the company’s first time at the fair, but it already imports from Brazil. “There is a good relation with Brazilian companies,” he said.
2XL has been in the retail market since 2002 and owns five stores in the emirates of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The stores offer furniture for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms, as well as accessories for decoration, such as lighting fixtures, cushions, kitchen utensils, bed linens, and towels, among others.
Another Arab company invited is Egyptian store Style Design. “It is a large, well-known company in the region,” said Silveira. According to him, just like 2XL, this is the company’s first time at the fair, and it has already imported furniture from Brazil as well. “They showed much interest in attending the fair and they want to import more. Participation in our events should create the ideal opportunity for potential Brazilian suppliers,” he added.
Operating in the Egyptian market since 1989, Style Design offers products for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, offices and hotels. With a showroom in Cairo, the company offers products by brands from the United States, Italy, Spain, Germany, among other countries.
In the edition of Abimad’s fair held in February this year, Brazilian companies closed export deals totalling US$ 2.5 million, and the business volume expected in the following 12-month period was US$ 12.9 million. “Early this year, exports were expected to have a gradual increase, and that is what is taking place,” said Silveira.
For the upcoming business meeting, the Abimad is betting on Latin American countries. “The market there is hotter right now,” said the analyst. In addition to the Arab and Latin importers, two United States–based companies will also participate in the event. From Latin America, companies from Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela will participate.
In total, 38 Brazilian companies will engage in business roundtables, which have already been scheduled with the buyer companies. There should be 288 meetings. The importers are coming by invitation of Abimad in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex).
