São Paulo – Company BRV Móveis, based in the city of Bento Gonçalves, in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, plans to double exports to the Arab market. According to the company export manager, Leandra Piccin, the target is to reach 15% of the total exported. For this, the company is going to participate in Index, a fair in the furniture sector, take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between November 28th and December 02nd.
This is the second time that BRV Móveis participates in Index. "We want to increase the number of clients in the region," stated Leandra. The company currently exports to 27 countries, among them the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. "We are also already exporting to Jordan," she added.
According to her, the company is working on strengthening the Brazil brand abroad, and there is therefore great interest in participating in foreign fairs. "I believe that participation in fairs is the best way to show our products in the (Arab) region," stated Leandra.
According to the export manager, 90% of company production is turned to the foreign market. "Our first customer in the region was in Dubai," she said, adding that the company has been exporting to the region for two years. The main BRV Móveis markets are South and Central America. Last year, the United Arab Emirates imported 12 containers from the company, each one containing around 700 items. Kuwait, in turn, imports about three containers a year.
The main products exported to the Arab market are sitting room shelves. According to Leandra, the only demands that the Arabs make with regard to the products are that they be glossy and dark. Apart from shelves, the company produces racks, sideboards, bookcases, centre tables, computer tables, wardrobes, beds, bedside tables and chests of drawers. In total, they produce 50 models.
The company works with two kinds of raw material, chipboard with FF (Finish Foil), a thin layer of paper or PVC used for finishing, and MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) finished in melanin.
Award
BRV Móveis was established in June 2003 in one of the largest furniture hubs in Brazil. The company counts on 70 employees and has a production capacity of 25 containers a month, an average of 17,500 items a month.
This month the company won award Prêmio Excelência Exportação Moveleira in Rio Grande do Sul, in category Winning New Markets, awarded by the Association of Furniture Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Another company award this month was a special mention by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, for the same reason.
