Brasília – The economic growth forecast from Brazilian financial market players slid for the tenth straight week. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is now seen growing 1.49% this year, down from 1.70% as of last week’s forecast. The 2020, 2021 and 2022 projections remained unchanged at 2.50%.
The figures are from the Brazilian Central Bank’s weekly Focus Bulletin, containing the results of a poll and issued each Monday.
The whole-year forecast for the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) – the official measure of inflation in Brazil – moved up from 4.01% to 4.04%. The 2020 forecast remains at 4%, with projections for 2021 and 2022 also unchanged at 3.75%.
The US dollar is seen ending 2019 at BRL 3.75. The 2019 forecast moved up from BRL 3.79 to BRL 3.80.
