São Paulo – Glasses manufactured by group Tecnovidro, based in Farroupilha, Rio Grande do Sul, will be on Abu Dhabi streets by the end of this year. The company has supplied the product for 32 units the Brazilian bus maker Marcopolo is exporting to the emirate. The buses will have double-glazed 15-milimetre windows designed to improve acoustics and protect against the region’s extreme temperatures, very hot during the day and cold during the evening.
The information was supplied by Tecnovidro commercial manager Vinicius Pitombo. According to him, the glasses maintain internal temperature and prevent too much outside influence on the environment within the bus. Pitombo claims Tecnovidro’s high technology was one of the reasons it has been chosen by Marcopolo.
The buses Marcopolo is shipping are Paradiso 1200 model units, and will be used in transporting Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (Gasco) personnel. The order has been placed by operator Avis. Marcopolo has been a client of the glass-company for a long time.
Tecnovidro also exports its products direct, but mostly to South American countries. The group has three separate divisions. One of them, also named Tecnovidro, serves the auto, furniture and civil construction industries. The Casavitra brand makes cooktops, ovens and home appliances, and Saint Claire offers glass doors and aluminium profiles.
According to the manager, Tecnovidro is on the cutting edge in glass technology and processing in Brazil. It offers coloured glasses, serigraph glasses, nano paintings and other exclusive items.
Tecnovidro has 230 collaborators. The company has been active for 27 years and owns a 16,000 square metre manufacturing area in Farroupilha. Comil, Neobus and Marcopolo are among its leading auto industry clients, according to information from the company’s website.
