Brasília – Governance in Brazilian state-run companies improved by 70% over the past six months, the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, Development and Management said. Companies’ average governance score went from 4.08 in the preceding six-month period to 6.93 in the latest one, thereby surpassing the 1-point target.
The Ministry announced this Friday (11) its 2ª Certificação do Indicador de Governança IG-SEST, a certification label for continuous scrutiny of governance in companies run by federal government.
Forty-six companies have been given scores. Their grades improved primarily through risk management, systematic internal control practices, and conduct and integrity training.
State-run businesses whose scores improved the most include Companhia de Armazéns e Silos do Estado de Minas Gerais (Casemg); Companhia das Docas do Estado da Bahia (Codeba), Correio (ECT), Infraero, Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbanos (CBTU) and Centro Nacional de Tecnologia Eletrônica Avançada (Ceitec).
