São Paulo – Pharmaceutical industry Dar Al Dawa, in Jordan, is interested in establishing partnerships with Brazilian sector distributors. The business development director at the company, Saher Hamarneh, is coming to Brazil to present his products for the first time. "If we find a big market for our products we will establish a partnership," stated the director, who is going to participate in business roundtables tomorrow (24) promoted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in São Paulo.
The Jordanian group produces generic medications for several treatments. The medication varies from antibiotics, vitamins, painkillers, anti-inflammatories and products in the areas of dermatology, cardiology and ophthalmology, among others. There are over 100 kinds of medication in 20 medical specialties.
According to Hamarneh, the group wants to open the market in South America, mainly Chile, Brazil and Argentina, countries the director has visited and will visit again this week. "Brazil is the most important economy, has the main market and is very advanced in the pharmaceutical and health product sectors," he said.
The products made by Dar Al Dawa are exported to over 25 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia. The company, which is headquartered in Naur, 20 kilometres south of Amman, the country capital, has partnerships with companies in Algeria, Libya and Tunisia. Around 80% of revenues come from exports. The company, which employs 750 people, also has sales and marketing offices in Romania.
Last year, group sales totalled US$ 48.2 million, and this year the forecast is to reach US$ 66 million with sales to new markets like the United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore and South Africa. Among the pharmaceutical multinationals for which the Jordanian group produces medications are Pfizer, Novartis, Sanofi-Aventis, Merck and Orion, among others.
Established in 1975, the group is one of the leaders in the pharmaceutical sector in the Middle East. Apart from medication, the company also produces a line of nutritional products for children, NutriDar, which includes milk for babies, cereals and soothing teas. Another line is CosmoDar, of cosmetics, established in 1992. The company has a partnership with Wella, for production of shampoos, conditioners and hair dye, among other products.
Apart from the line of cosmetics, divided into products for children and adults, CosmoDar also has a line of cleaning products, for laundry and disinfectants as well as DadVet, of veterinary and agricultural products.
