São Paulo – The orchestra Orquestra Mundana Refugi will perform at Museu da Casa Brasileira in celebration of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 13, at 11 am.
Musician Carlinhos Antunes is the founder of the orchestra’s project, formed by refugees from many countries, including Syria and Palestine.
The group plays their own compositions and traditional folk tunes from Palestine, Guinea, Congo and Brazil, plus traditional Arab and Persian hymns. Among the instruments used are the kanun, accordion, piano, violin, Chinese cithara and bouzouki.
