São Paulo – Cerâmica Gyotoku, which has a factory in Suzano, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, is opening the Saudi market to company exports. In October, the person responsible for Africa and the Middle East at the organisation, Sérgio Neves, should travel to the Arab country to visit potential clients and local distributors.
"Saudi Arabia is the place to be right now. It is the country that is investing at more stable levels," said Neves. According to him, since last year the company, which has been exporting to the Emirates and Libya for four years, has been investing in the demand for new opportunities in the region. "With the help of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce we identified important contacts that may now become business," he said.
The first contact with the Arab market took place during Gyotoku participation in the Big 5 Show, in the building sector, in Dubai, in 2006. The company participated again in 2007 and 2008. "Company investment in the region is continuous. The crisis, which made the market shrink a little, should improve in the near future," he said.
According to Neves, Gyotoku participates in the main fairs and events in the sector like Surfaces , in Las Vegas, and Coverings, in Orlando, both in the United States, and Cersaie, in Bologna (Italy), which is among the main fairs in the sector. The company turns its exports to markets like the United States, Canada, Central America, the Caribbean, South America, Africa and Europe.
On the domestic market, the company works with representatives and sales teams all over Brazil.
The factory
Gyotoku was established in 1964, covering an area of 120 metres of built area and production of 200 metres of vitrified tiles a month, in the city of Suzano, in the state of São Paulo, the same place in which, in 1977, they started the activities of Factory II.
Nowadays, Gyotoku is the largest ceramic tile industry in São Paulo and the fourth largest in Brazil. The company offers a varied product mix, generates over 1,000 direct jobs and trades 1.5 million square metres of tiles a month, as well as exporting to over 50 countries worldwide.
While investing heavily in technology, Gyotoku has a new product development program, and is the first Brazilian company to present standardized packages certified by the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (Inmetro).
