São Paulo – The Union of Gypsum Industries of the state of Pernambuco, in northeastern Brazil, and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) signed an agreement to promote gypsum sector exports.
Over R$ 2 million (US$ 940,000 at current exchange rates) will be invested in the companies of the sector, and this should expand exports, increase the number of export companies, generate jobs and increase the number of target markets.
The sector target is to reach exports of around US$ 3.5 million up to the end of 2006. Last year they totalled US$ 2.5 million. The project includes 18 companies and another 30 should be added during the year.
