São Paulo – Handcrafted and decorative items from India, Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates can be found at fair Mostra Mundi, open until October 29 at the events’ area of mall Pátio Paulista, in São Paulo.
The exhibition is an opportunity for visitors to get to know a little more about the culture of each one of the countries, its exotic items and meanings, allowing for a cultural exchange and the opportunity of purchasing original pieces, since all that is being exhibited is for sale.
From Dubai, United Arab Emirates, there are sandals, camel-leather babouches (footwear), purses, pillows, embroidery and crystal-embroidery pieces, earrings, bracelets and other accessories. From Turkey, visitors will find hand-painted porcelain from the cities of İznik and Kütahya, colorful Murano lamps and the popular Nazar, the amulet that protects against the evil eye curse.
From Pakistan came items made of white onyx gemstone, carved tin vases, carved wood pieces and wool and silk rugs. From the Philippines, decorative items and accessories made of the traditional Philippine mother-of-pearl handicraft; and, from India, decorative pieces of wood carved by hand, such as small boxes, incense-stick holders, old gramophones and small tables, some of them having details on the wood studded with bronze, and patchwork articles, such as pillows, quilts and pashmina shawls.
Mostra Mundi is a partnership of mall Pátio Paulista with events company Korkmaz Arts & Crafts.
