São Paulo – Where will you be on December 31st, 2011? You don’t know? Many clients of some of the main travel operators in the country have not only chosen their New Year packages, but have already bought them. The movement has gained strength at agencies this year, boosted, among other reasons, by low dollar rates and by the tendency for greater planning of trips by Brazilians. In this scenery, routes to the Arab world gained strength. The Emirates, Morocco and Egypt are among the most attractive.
“We have already sold 35% more packages for New Year this year than in the same period in 2010,” said the commercial director at Marsans Brasil, Jaime Abraços. “Anticipated purchases of trips have been gaining strength over the years, mainly for special dates, which are more disputed,” he said.
According to the executive, the acquisition of routes in the first half of the year is connected, among other reasons, with the easy financing of the service. In Brazil, among the most sought destinations for the viewing of firework displays on the night of the 31st are the Rio Grande do Sul Mountain Range, Fortaleza (Ceará) and Natal (Rio Grande do Norte). Abroad, the highlights are Paris (France), New York and Orlando (in the United States) and Buenos Aires (Argentina). In the Arab nations, the preference is for countries like Egypt, Jordan and the Emirates. “Brazilians have discovered the Arab world,” said Abraços.
At Designer Tours, the expansion in sales of packages is already 5% as against last year. With the Arabs topping the list of new options for New Year. “Clients and travel agents call us and are asking about prices for the 2011 and 2012 end of year,” explained company director Deusa Rodrigues. “With the heated tourism market and the more and more crowded flights, passengers have started organizing themselves in advance,” he said. The most sought destinations at the travel agency are the Emirates (mainly Dubai) and Morocco. “They are some of our main bets this year,” she said.
The largest operator in the country, CVC confirms the tendency of higher sales for New Year. So much so that the company released its New Year products in June, two months earlier than in 2010. The list of routes for the period was expanded, with the inclusion, among others, of packages to the Middle East, like “Réveillon – Brasileiros nas Arábias” (New Year – Brazilians in the Arab Nations). The service is part of “Mundo para Brasileiros” (World for Brazilians) and involves, among other points, a ticket to Ferrari Park, in Abu Dhabi. There are also options for trips to Dubai and Egypt.
Whatever the destination, more and more organized Brazilian tourists will have plenty of time to pack their bags and decide on what to wear on the 31st.
