São Paulo – The 11th International Fair for Products, Equipment, Services and Technology for Hospitals, Health Clinics and Laboratories (Hospitalar 2004) will be taking place in São Paulo from June 1 to 4, 2004. The largest fair in the health sector in Latin America should bring together over 750 exhibitors, with strong international presence.
A partnership between the Brazilian Export Promotion Agency (Apex), through the Buyer Project, the Association of the Manufacturers of Medical and Dental Products (Abimo), and with the support of the São Paulo State Support Service to the Small Business (Sebrae/SP), is going to finance the participation of international businessmen with import potential in business rounds.
Those interested in participating should enrol through the Sebrae/SP up to Wednesday (11). There are a limited number of positions, and selection of those who have enrolled should begin next week.
The Abimo executive director, Hely Maestrello, has stated that the main Arab distributors with import potential have already received invitations. "We are expecting importers from Latin America, Russia, India, and Indonesia, although our main focus is Arab countries like the Untied Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Morocco," stated the director.
According to him, this special attention to the Arab market may be explained by the potential Brazilian producers identified in the region during their participation in Arab Health, which took place in January this year in Dubai.
Businessmen who did not receive invitations but have import potential may get in contact with the Sebrae/SP. The enrolment must contain the number of employees, revenues, company capital, and lines of greatest interest.
"After the companies have been selected and it has been defined who will be participating in the business rounds, a folder will be prepared with the profile of each of the importers for Brazilian executives to be able to indicate where they would rather be included," he explained.
According to Maestrello, around 50 meetings are scheduled, always in the morning, for three days. The afternoon will be free for those present to visit stands.
National and international exhibitors
Apart from companies in 13 Brazilian states, Hospitalar 2004 is going to include exhibitors from 20 countries. Great advertising of the fair in Brazil and abroad has already started so as to guarantee exhibitors high-level visitors, and a broad variety of product, service, and equipment options to visitors.
In the 2003 edition, the fair received 65,000 professional visitors, mainly hospital administrators, doctors, nurses, and distributors. This year, the number should be even larger.
Hospitalar offers thousands of items in medical and hospital products and services, operating as a window for new releases and a meeting centre for suppliers and their clients.
A multisector event, with products in all areas of health, the 2004 fair will be focussing on diagnostics, rehabilitation, and hospital pharmacy areas, already present in previous editions but to be increased this year.
There will also be new alternatives in the image, home care, hospital hotel service, architecture, and service areas.
Some events to take place in parallel to the fair have already been confirmed. Apart from the 9th Latin-American Health Service Congress, promoted by the Sao Paulo State Hospital Syndicate (Sindhosp) and the Brazilian Health Services Federation (Fenaess). Various congresses, seminars, and exhibitions organized by the São Camilo University Centre will also take place.
