São Paulo – Two Egyptian companies are set to exhibit at São Paulo’s Hospitalar expo: Euromed, from Cairo, and Pharmaplast, from Alexandria. The event’s 23rd edition, slated for May 17th to 20th, will also feature companies from Brazil and 32 other countries.
Euromed makes catheters, needle covers and syringes, among other items. The company exhibited at Hospitalar in 2014 and 2015. This is not the first time for Pharmaplast either. The company offers surgical tape, gases and alcohol gel, among other products.
The consul to Egypt’s Commercial Office in São Paulo, Mohamed Elkhatib, told ANBA that the coming of Egyptian enterprises is an indication that Brazil is important to them. “It is a large market with potential, especially for equipment and device manufacturers,” he said.
The Hospitalar expo features makers of neonatal and rehab equipment, hospital cleaning products, operating tables, sterilization systems, furnishing, diagnostic instruments and equipment etc. Last year, 96,000 people visited the expo, up 5% from 2014. Besides the fair, Hospitalar includes a forum where industry trends are debated.
In addition to companies from Egypt and Brazil, the trade show will feature companies from Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, Spain, United States, France, India, Italy, Israel, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey and Uruguay.
During the Hospitalar expo, the Brazilian Medical, Dental, Hospital and Laboratory Equipment Industries Association (Abimo) will host a matchmaking event under the Brazilian Health Devices project, which it manages in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). According to the organizers, this year’s matchmaking event will involve exclusively Latin American buyers.
