São Paulo – Medical equipment by the Ibramed company will start being exported to the Arab market. The Brazilian company signed a partnership deal with a trading company based in Jordan to represent aesthetical and physiotherapy equipment in the Middle East. "After we set the terms of the deal, we will send a sales team (to Jordan) for training," said Diogo Oliveira, manager of the Ibramed’s Export Department.
The contact between the companies took place at the Healthcare medical and hospital industry fair, held in April in Syria. According to Oliveira, before travelling to the Arab country, the Foreign Trade department of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, which organized the Brazilian stand at the fair, sent some contacts of importers in the industry. "We exchanged a few emails and the trading company’s representatives visited us at our stand," said the manager, who is still concluding the contract with the Arab company.
In order to inspire more trust and to showcase the Brazilian company’s infrastructure, Oliveira claimed that he would like to schedule a visit of the Jordanian businessmen to the Ibramed’s headquarters, in the city of Amparo, in the interior of the state of São Paulo. "If everything turs out well, we should start exporting in the second half," said the manager.
The Jordanian trading company is going to represent 27 models of equipment made by Ibramed. The idea, according to Oliveira, is for his company to promote the Brazilian companies at trade shows in the Middle East. The equipment that will be taken to the Healthcare fair include those of the Heccus line, for pre- and post- surgery equipment, lymphatic drainage and hematoma drainage, cellulitis, muscle strengthening, among others.
"Our participation at the fair was quite interesting. We offered high-quality products for competitive prices," said Oliveira, which participated in the event alongside the director of Ibramed, José Ricardo de Souza. According to him, Ibramed began investing in the foreign market in 2008, and even exported to Arab countries such as United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Lebanon a few times. Presently, the foreign sales account for approximately 5% of the company’s output. Countries in Latin America, Europe and Asia are already clients of Ibramed.
According to Oliveira, after this partnership with the trading company, it expects sales to the Arab world to generate revenues of US$ 1 million per year. in order to continue betting on that market, Ibramed will go to the Arab Health for the second time, in Dubai, in 2011. Another fair that the company participates in, receiving visits of businessmen from several Arab countries, is Medica, in Germany.
