São Paulo – The Institute of Arab Culture (Icarabe) and the Department of Eastern Languages of the University of São Paulo (USP) are going to promote the launch of three editions of the Tiraz magazine and a screening of the film Terres d’Islam, by Robert Pansard-Besson. The event takes place on December 1st, starting at 07:30 pm, at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
The Tiraz magazine is an annual publication of the USP Postgraduate Language, Literature and Arab Culture Program. The magazine brings articles, critiques, translations and reviews of works in the fields of Arab literature, science, religion, arts and philosophy.
The film Terres d’Islam, directed by Robert Pansard-Besson, portrays how the Arab-Islamic civilization developed through the centuries and expanded from the outer reaches of Asia to Europe (Spain and France). He shows how the Arabs perfected their knowledge of art, literature, language, science and culture based on heritages from the Mesopotamians, Greeks, Byzantines, Persians, Indians, and from the ancient Arabs themselves.
