São Paulo – The representative of a trading company from Saudi Arabia met on Thursday (26), in São Paulo, with eleven companies that make metal products. Sajauddin Amiji, from Arabian Trading Corporation, is in Brazil this week to buy bathroom metals, building material and food for countries in the Middle East and believes it will be possible to do business in the country in the near future.
On Friday (27) he will visit the installations of bathroom metal producer Deca, in São Paulo and Jundiaí. "The question [to close deals] is not the price, but competitiveness. We are a trading company and we export everything. I believe it will be possible to do business with food-sector companies, like producers of grain,” said the importer after participating in business roundtables.
Arabian Trading Corporation (Atraco) is headquartered in Jeddah, the Saudi capital, but has a representative office in the United Arab Emirates and representatives in Oman, Ethiopia and Sudan. Amiji is in Brazil at the invitation of the Metal Brasil project, whose aim is to foster exports of bathroom metals, locks and household appliances in aluminium, promoted by the Non-Ferrous Metal Artefact Union of the State of São Paulo (Siamfesp).
According to the consultant at Metal Brasil, Armínio Calonga Júnior, there are great chances for Amiji’s trading company to buy from Brazilian companies. "Brazil does not yet export to them and he came here to learn about our productive capacity and the quality of our products. There are good business expectations. It may take a while, but will happen,” said Calonga. The consultant believes that in six months the first orders should be placed.
