São Paulo – Dentistry sector importers from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt are among the 24 international buyers to participate in the Business Roundtables of the 27th International Dentistry Congress in São Paulo (Ciosp), to take place at Tryp Paulista Hotel next week, in São Paulo.
With the expectation of maintaining sector exports at the same level as last year, the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Medical, Dental, Hospital and Laboratory Articles and Equipment (Abimo), in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), estimates that Brazilian companies, in the event, should prospect business of around US$ 4.8 million in the period of one year, which, if confirmed, should represent an increase of 60% over last year’s edition.
According to the executive director at Abimo, Hely Maestrello, in an interview to ANBA this week, within the dentistry and medical-hospital sector, dentistry equipment is the most shipped to the Arab world. Saudi Arabia and Egypt are among the three main destinations. Last year, Brazilian exports of medical and hospital and dentistry products to the Arab countries totalled around US$ 10 million, representing growth of 26.65% over the result for 2007.
In total, 18 countries have been invited to participate in the roundtables. Apart from the Arabs, the list of importers includes buyers from South, North and Central America, Europe and Africa. In all, 30 national companies are going to participate in the event. According to Maestrello, in a press statement disclosed by Abimo, the global financial crisis should not interfere in business. "The impact of the crisis on the dentistry sector should be lower, as it is an area connected to public policies, health and beauty," he said.
Among the Brazilian companies to participate in the business roundtables is Dabi Atlante, from São Paulo, which already exports to the Arab market, and company ACME, from Paraná, which is eyeing the market of the Middle East and North Africa.
Congress
Ciosp, to take place at the Anhembi Exhibition Pavilion, is considered the most important trade event in the dentistry sector in Latin America. At the exhibition, companies release products, tendencies and technological innovation. In this edition, over 90 companies associated to Abimo are going to exhibit. Apart from that, the congress presents several courses, talks and workshops for a specialized public.
