São Paulo – IndusParquet, a maker of wooden flooring from the interior of the state of São Paulo, exports to the Arab Market and plans to expand its sales in the region next year. The company, which is the leader in the sector in Latin America and the world leader in terms of tropical wood, plans to establish a new distribution centre in Europe, which should also simplify the sale of products to the Arab world.
The information was disclosed by the export manager at IndusParquet, Marcos Ducatti. According to him, among the Arabs, the main buyer is Egypt. The Egyptian importer does not buy regularly, but when he does, the volumes are large, explained Ducatti. Apart from the Egyptians, however, the company has already sold to Morocco, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia on other occasions.
IndusParquet is renowned for having products in famous places, like Casa Santa Marta, the home of Cardinals in the Vatican, Apple shops in Brazil, Projac – the recording centre of Globo TV, luxury resort Llao Llao, in Bariloche, and luxury hotel Mandarim, in Morocco, among others. To Egypt, according to Ducatti, the most sold products are those with higher added value, fully made out of wood.
IndusParquet makes wooden floors, decks and facing. Production is made out of solid wood and structured material, with the latter including multiestrato flooring, those made out of remains of solid wood covered in a fine plate of veneer, multistructured products, with plywood below and veneer on top, and multilaminates, plywood made using solid wood on the surfaces.
The company supplies over 30 countries and the main market is the United States, followed by Latin America. Exports, according to Ducatti, represent 30% to 40% of the total produced. The executive believes that there should be not growth in exports this year, but growth is expected in 2013. The plan, for such is to enter new markets, including those in the Arab countries.
Germany is also among the focuses for 2013. Ducatti explains that the company already has two distribution centres in Europe, which belong to partners in France and Italy, and it should open a new centre in Germany. It has not yet been defined, whether it will be the company’s own structure or that of some partner, but the new unit should simplify trade with the Arabs. “The clients will not need to buy significant volumes,” he said.
IndusParquet has two factories in the city of Tietê (São Paulo state) and one in Curitiba (Paraná). The latter was bought about one and a half years ago and produces multistructured and multilaminate products. As these products are cheaper than solid wood ones, the measure was taken to allow the company to supply all niches. Ducatti says that the demand for these articles is a tendency.
The wood used in production of the flooring and facing is bought from third parties, and comes from forestry management and with approval by the Brazilian Environment and Renewable Natural Resource Institute (Ibama). IndusParquet also has FSC international certification, the most renowned green stamp in the world.
The company bought an area for eucalyptus cultivation in São Paulo, where it should start producing lumber in seven or eight years. Eucalyptus, however, is not the main raw material for the company and is only used for plywood and other kinds of similar products. The main wood used is tropical, from trees like Jatobá, Perobinha, Sucupira, Ipê and Cumaru, among others.
IndusParquet was established in 1970 by José Antônio Baggio and Luiz Francisco Uliana. They started their activities with just one employee, but the company had rapid growth and in 1982 was already starting to export. Currently the group has 600 employees and, apart from factories, owns five shops in São Paulo. It also has social programmes, mainly to help youths and poor children, and invests in research in the lumber area.
