Rio de Janeiro – Industrial output went up in ten out of 15 areas tracked by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in April from March this year. As per the Monthly Industrial Survey – Regional Physical Production released this Tuesday (11), the strongest hikes were seen in Pernambuco (8.3%), followed by Bahia (7.4%) and the Northeastern states as a whole (6.1%).
Industry production also grew in April from March in Mato Grosso (5.1%), Ceará (3.7%), São Paulo (2.4%), Rio Grande do Sul (2.3%), Santa Catarina (1.3%), Paraná (0.3%), and Minas Gerais (0.1%).
Year-on-year in April, industry picked up in only six locations, including Ceará (6.5%) and Rio Grande do Sul (6.3%). Nine locations saw production go down, particularly Pará (-31%).
