Rio de Janeiro – Nine out of the 15 locations tracked by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) saw a drop in their industrial production in March from February. As per the Monthly Industrial Survey – Regional Physical Production released this Wednesday (8), drops were higher in Pará (-11.3%) and Bahia (-10.1%). Six states saw production go down: Mato Grosso (-6.6%), Pernambuco (-6%), Minas Gerais (-2.2%), Ceará (-1.7%), São Paulo (-1.3%), e Amazonas (-0.5%).
The IBGE also keeps track of industry trends in the nine Northeastern states as a whole, which saw output go down 7.5%. With this, nationwide production saw a 1.3% drop, as per released last week. On the other hand, six locations saw a hike: Espírito Santo (3.6%), Rio de Janeiro (2.9%), Goiás (2.3%), Paraná (1.5%), Santa Catarina (1.2%), and Rio Grande do Sul (1%).
