Brasília – The Industrial Business Owner Confidence Index (Icei, acronym in Portuguese) climbed again, to 59.4 points in August. It was the third back-to-back increase for the Icei, which is currently higher than the historical average of 54.5 points. “Confidence remains strong,” the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) said in a report released this Tuesday (20).
The Icei ranges from 0 to 100, with scores higher than 50 indicating confidence. Numbers have improved for all business sizes. Medium and especially large industrial companies are showing above-average figures.
Confidence is strongest in North Brazil, where it was up 4 points to 61.7. Scores are 59.6 in the Northeast, 58.5 in the Southeast, 54.9 in the South, and 59.2 in Midwest Brazil. The CNI polled 2.451 companies from August 1 to 13.
