Rio de Janeiro – Brazil’s Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S) was up 0.19% in the seven days through August 15, down from a 0.20% hike the previous week. The number reflects slower inflation in four out of seven state capitals, especially Brasília, which saw 0.35% deflation.
The IPC-S was made public by think tank Fundação Getulio Vargas this Friday (17). Recife had the second lowest inflation out of the seven capitals at 0.10%. In the prior seven-day period, the city had seen 0.14% inflation. The IPC-S also dropped in Porto Alegre, going from 0.18% to 0.14%, and in São Paulo, from 0.37% to 0.32%. Inflation picked up in Salvador and Belo Horizonte, and remained unchanged in Rio de Janeiro.
