São Paulo – Experts from different areas will address trademark registration in the Arab countries. The lecture will take place at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo on Tuesday (30). The theme is “Trademark registration as a competitive tool in the Arab world.”
The event will bring together Souto, Correa, Cesa, Lummertz & Amaral Advogados partner Mariana Vicentini Taylor, Arab Brazilian Chamber certification analyst Laércio Zeferino, as well as quality certification company Intertek general manager Danielle Cordeiro and export coordinator Diva Nascimento.
The event is exclusive for the Arab Brazilian Chamber members and brings information on registration protection systems and strategies, reflections on trademark definition, national brands, and anti-piracy efforts.
Atorney Mariana Vicentini will talk about the importance of doing a previous research on the brand in the chosen country. “Being able to know beforehand if you can register according to the country’s brand regulations and the meaning the name has in that culture, and how not to break others’ rights,” explained she, who presented a workshop about the theme last year (pictured above) at the Arab Brazilian Chamber and will now address more recent information.
The event will also cover aspects of Egypt’s regulations due to changes in registration requirements that were made in 2016, with information from Egypt’s General Organization for Import and Export Control (GOEIC). Still about Egypt, information will be provided on prohibited and restricted goods, factory and product registration, exporters’ and importers’ responsibilities, required certificates, export registration, product entry processes, and mandatory packaging and labeling requirements.
