São Paulo – Itaipu Binacional, the company that manages the Itaipu hydroelectric plant, will finish the Brazilian participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, with activities centered on the water subject. The world exhibition started in October last year and will run until the end of March this year. Itaipu’s activities will be conducted from March 20 to 31, according to information released by the company.
Itaipu prepared attractions using state-of-the-art interactive technologies to show the interconnections between water, biodiversity, climate, and energy. There will also be events related to sustainability, such as territorial development, renewable power sources, conservation of water resources, and biodiversity.
The company informed it will participate in the Expo at the invitation of the Brazilian federal government, through the Ministries of Mines and Energy and Foreign Affairs, and was chosen due to the international recognition of the actions developed in the territory of influence of the plant, such as the preservation of over 100,000 hectares of Atlantic Forest in the surrounding region.
The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) coordinates the Brazilian participation in Expo 2020 Dubai. The Brazil Pavilion is one of the show’s sustainability district highlights, and one of its attractions is a reflecting pool in the central area, referring to Brazil’s water resources.
