Erbil – The prime minister of Iraqi Kurdistan, Barham Saleh, expressed interest in bringing Brazilian bus body and bus makers into the region. The information was supplied by the Brazilian ambassador in Iraq, Bernardo de Azevedo Brito, who met with Saleh this Tuesday (19th) in Erbil.
According to Brito, they discussed the various Brazilian agricultural and industrial products that may be exported to Kurdistan. "He showed much interest in collaborating with Brazil and making it easier for enterprises to come here," said the ambassador.
The prime minister was also interested in agricultural technology transfer aimed at increasing productivity in both family farming and agroindustries. According to Brito, agricultural activity is very important to Kurdistan.
The prime minister also stressed that the region is safe and its laws include advantages to foreign investors. According to the ambassador, Kurdistan is open to partnerships with Brazilian companies and will support them in every sense, including finding plots for the companies to settle in.
At the beginning of the meeting, Saleh told the ambassador that he recognized the importance of Brazilian economy and its importance worldwide.
In addition to the meeting with Saleh, Brito received the president of Kurdistan, Mustafa Barzani, accompanied by the region’s minister of Foreign Relations, Falah Mustafa Bakir, at the embassy’s stand in the Erbil International Fair, which started this Monday (18th) and will continue until Thursday (21st).
The ambassador introduced the stand and the Brazilian companies in attendance to the president. According to Brito, Barzani referred to Brazil as a country of great economic importance.
