São Paulo – The Supreme Committee for Food and Water Security at Kuwait’s Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) recommended, at a meeting on Sunday (20), the suspension of the ban on poultry meat imports from Brazil. The PAFN cited the end of avian influenza in Brazil as justification.
Kuwaiti news agency Kuna reported that Kuwait’s ban applied to all poultry meat imports from Brazil, including fresh, chilled, frozen, and processed meats, as well as their derivatives and products.
In the last update from Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock on the matter, released on July 15, the ministry reported that Kuwait had reduced its restrictions on chicken meat imports to only the municipality of Montenegro. Previously, the restrictions applied to the entire state of Rio Grande do Sul.
