São Paulo – Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) will reconfigure the refinery and petrochemical plant Al-Zour to increase its output capacity of fuels and petrochemicals, according to news published this Wednesday (24) by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). The international company Honeywell UOP will be responsible for the process.
Honeywell UOP will revise the configuration and capacity of the facilities, as well as supplying technology licenses, new equipment, catalysts and other services to bring improvements and innovation. When the reconfiguration is complete, the plant will be the largest integrated refinery and petrochemicals plant in Kuwait,
The refinery’s gasoline section will include a 98,000 barrels per day (bpd) for production of propylene, gasoline, and petrochemical aromatics, and a unit to produce low-sulfur gasoline blending components, as well as other advanced products. The petrochemical will include an aromatics complex that will produce 1.4 million metric tons per year of paraxylene, as well as other complexes.
Honeywell UOP is a leading licensor of process technology for the production of aromatics. As of last year, it licensed more than 100 complexes and more than 700 individual process units for the production of aromatics. The company is very active in Kuwait and has provided it with solutions it developed to power digital transformation across the country’s growing oil, gas and petrochemical sectors
KIPIC is a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation set up to manage refinery, petrochemicals and liquefied natural gas (NLG) import operations in the Al-Zour complex.
