São Paulo – The Sesc Ribeirão Preto unit should present next Wednesday (7) theatre play "As folhas do cedro" (Cedar leaves). The play won the 2010 São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA) award in the “Best Author” category. It tells the story of a 40-year-old lady who finds her identity through her memories.
A daughter of Lebanese immigrants, she recalls her mother’s adventures in the search for her father, amidst the works for construction of the Trans-Amazon highway in the 1970s. The play has already been presented in the city of São Paulo and is now travelling around the state.
It was written and directed by Samir Yazbek, who is of Syrian descent. The cast includes Helio Cicero, Daniela Duarte, Douglas Simon, Gabriela Flores, Mariza Virgolino, Rafaella Puopolo and Marina Flores.
