São Paulo – The credit and equity market will be the topic of a lecture on May 20th at the head office of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in São Paulo’s capital. PhD at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation School of Economics (FGV, in the Portuguese acronym), in São Paulo, Claudio Jorge Monteiro, will speak about these two sources of financing for companies, the bond market, i.e. banks, and equity, i.e. fundraising from partners.
According to Monteiro, the objective is to show how these markets see companies, and which information the companies should supply in order to have the best possible relation with them and be able to raise funds. “It is important to provide information in the correct way”, says the lecturer. According to him, without all the necessary information about the company, a bank may not grant a loan, or else grant it with a higher cost.
When lecturing about the equity market, Monteiro will touch on the logic of shareholder profit. “They need to be paid for the risk they take”, he says, recalling that the partner will only profit if the company profits. The FGV professor will show how companies are seen and evaluated in sales transactions, while seeking out investors, or offering shares on the stock market.
At FGV, Claudio Jorge Monteiro is in charge of the subjects Valuation, Credit Analysis, Corporate Finances and Mergers and Acquisitions. He is a business administrator with a major in Finance and master’s and doctoral degrees in Controllership and Accounting from the School of Economics and Business Administration (FEA) of the University of São Paulo (USP). He has been operating on the finance market, in the segments of credit, investment and mergers and acquisitions for over 25 years.
The lecture at the Arab Brazilian Chamber, titled “Entering the Credit and Equity Market” (Acessando o Mercado de Crédito e de Equities, in Portuguese), is free of charge, but registration is limited. It will be held at 7 pm on a Tuesday, and is a part of the Lecture Cycle organized by the Chamber, which will bring specialists periodically to discuss different topics of interest to the business world.
