São Paulo – Brazilian sax player Leo Gandelman played a concert at the Yarmouk Cultural Center in Kuwait City on Wednesday (10). The “Waves of Brazil” concert series is an initiative of the Embassy of Brazil in Kuwait, and has featured the likes of Reco do Bandolim & Grupo Choro Livre and Francis & Olívia Hime.
Diplomat Cláudia Assaf, who’s in charge of culture, press and commercial promotion at the Embassy, the show was a success. “A packed venue and standing ovations,” she said.
Gandelman and his group played some compositions of his own and by Brazilian popular music icons like Luiz Bonfá, Antonio Maria, Carlos Lyra, Geraldo Vandré, Edu Lobo, Baden Powell, Tom Jobim, Vinícius de Morais and others.
The composer also gave interviews to TV and radio stations in Kuwait. Check out his interview for the Hala Kuwait show (interview begins at the 12’30’’ mark)..
