São Paulo – Wissam Saidah, the trader at Cotrimex, a company in the marble and granite sector, has just arrived in Brazil with a bag full of contacts and opportunities to expand company exports. In late January, Saidah participated in Khartoum International Fair, in Sudan, where he developed business mainly with a group of companies from Qatar that has a branch in the African country. As soon as the fair ended, he travelled to Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates, also seeking new clients.
"I made some contacts from Brazil to schedule visits and meetings, but in Lebanon and Dubai I went as a travelling salesman. I knocked on the door of importers, introduced myself and offered our products," said Saidah.
According to him, negotiations are greatly advanced with four importers from Sudan and four buyers from Lebanon. "They liked our products very much. We are just setting up the details to close the first orders," said Saidah, who hopes to close the first exports to the Arab market up to the end of March.
Cotrimex, headquartered in São José do Rio Preto, is a producer and exporter of ornamental stones that started selling on the foreign market in 2005. Until contacts started with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, the organisation exported basically to countries in Central and South America, with the main shipments still heading to Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
The company, which is also known as Pedras São Jorge, produces a great variety of ornamental stones for flooring and tiling in residential units, condominiums, clubs, squares, gardens, gyms, pools and pavements. "We work to offer what there is best in the market of ornamental stone, barbecues, granite and marble," said Saidah.
