São Paulo – The CEO of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Michel Alaby, will present the lecture “Cultural Aspects and Negotiations with Arab Countries”, on April 7, in Rio de Janeiro. The workshop is part of the “Road Show – Arab Chamber”, a series of four meetings to take place in Brazilian cities outside of its headquarters in São Paulo. The purpose of the road show is to bring information on the Arab countries to Brazilian companies and show them where the business opportunities are located.
In the lecture that Alaby will present in Rio de Janeiro, he will speak on methods of negotiation with the Arabs, aspects of the entrepreneurial culture of the Middle East and North Africa countries, what is the profile of the negotiators and which are the attitude that should or should not be taken during business meetings.
“One of the tips that I use to present is that the Arabs don’t buy on impulse. They emphasize trust, friendship and long-term relations", says Alaby. “Besides, the Arab doesn’t deal with the company, he deals with the person”, he says, alluding to the fact that the Arab business owner values the human aspects in trade discussions. Price, costs and terms are important, but by themselves don’t guarantee a good sale or purchase.
Rio de Janeiro has great export potential, since it has a diversified economy, with exporting industrial complexes. “Textile, petrochemical, machinery, Defense and auto industries are some of the sectors with a significant share of Rio de Janeiro’s economy”, remarked Alaby.
The topics and cities that will host the next lectures of the Arab Chamber’s main executive are yet to be defined. Those interested in participating need to contact the email listed below.
