São Paulo – A participant in the panel “The Future is Now – Perspectives for Brazil and the Arab Countries in the New Global Situation” that took place on Monday (19) as part of the Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries, hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), author and millennial expert Adam Smiley Poswolsky talked about a world that is changing fast. And will change even more.
Thanks to millennials, the generation of professionals and consumers that were born from the early 1980s to 1995, and the even younger generation Z, the companies will have to change.
“Out of children that are in the Elementary School today, 65% will work in jobs that haven’t been invented yet. The millennials will have around 15 to 20 jobs throughout life,” he said, comparing it to the fact that a boomer usually had an entire career insde one company only.
“The challenge now is thinking how we are preparing the next generation for the labor market. We take this challenge and put a pandemic over that. This generation doesn’t know a world without a smartphone in their hands,” Poswolsky said about the impact of today’s changes on the younger generations.
Another important change is that these younger generations (as both employees and consumers) require that the companies relate more with society, after all, Poswolsky said, the millennial and Y generations have a purpose. “Fifty per cent of them said that they would accept a lower salary to work in a place that is in accordance with their values,” he illustrated, mentioning a recent survey by consulting firm Deloitte. “It’s also necessary to solve environmental challenges,” he completed.
