São Paulo – In September, Brazil saw 80,690 motorcycles manufactured, up 5.2% over a year ago, as per a survey made public this Tuesday (9) by the Brazilian Association of Motorcycle, Moped, and Bicycle Manufacturers (Abraciclo).
Year-to-date through September, production climbed 19.2% from a year ago. Abraciclo chairman Marcos Fermanian believes the industry is benefiting from growing credit to buyers fueling retail sales.
Abraciclo-affiliated companies lost space in exports as a result of the crisis in Argentina, which takes in 72.4% of exports from Brazil. September saw 3,336 units shipped abroad, down 70.2% from a year ago. In September from August, foreign sales dropped 55.7%.
The organization is sticking to its whole-year forecasts. Output is expected to be up 11%, wholesale sales should climb 10.5% and retail sales are seen going up 7.5%. Exports, on the other hand, are expected to drop by 2.2%.
