São Paulo – Company Nexans, world leader in the production of cables, closed 10 million euro deal to supply medium- and low-tension cables for the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) refinery in Yemen, YLNG. The information was disclosed today (10) by a spokesperson for the company.
The refinery will be built in Arabian port, in the Gulf of Balhaf, on the southern coast of Yemen, and will have a capacity for production of 6.7 million tonnes of gas each year. Nexans is going to supply around 1,100 kilometres of cables for the project, to be used in the transfer of energy and transmission of telecommunications data throughout the terminal. The cables will be produced by the Nexans plants in Belgium and France. The delivery time for the products is scheduled to be up to the end of the year, and the refinery should start operating in late 2008.
Nexans employs around 21,000 people around the world, has trade activities in 70 countries, has factories in 31 nations and administers nine research and development centres. Since 2001, the company has been listed on the Paris stock exchange.
