São Paulo – Micro and small exporting businesses in the Brazilian Northeast will meet with international buyers, including an importing company based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The 16th International Business Meeting of the Northeast (Einne, in the Portuguese acronym) will take place from October 23rd to 25th at the Bahia Othon Palace Hotel, in Salvador, Bahia, and as of last Wednesday (4th) approximately 100 importers had already registered to attend. The Abu Dhab-based company is named Horus Representation, a distributor of products in various segments, ranging from foods to decoration, marble and electronics, among others.
The information was supplied by Einne manager Cristiane Mota, who is also a Market Analyst and Financial Services analyst with the Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) in the state of Bahia. Sebrae is promoting the meeting. In addition to the Arab company, companies have registered which are from countries such as Germany, Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, United States, France, Guatemala, Guinea Bissau, Italy, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, and Uruguay.
The importers, whose lodging and tickets will be paid for by the organizers, were invited based on commercial prospecting and intelligence work carried out by the Sebrae, and on referrals from embassies, consulates, and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), among others. Voluntary registrations will also be accepted. According to Mota, registrations will remain open until September 14th.
The 210 Northeastern companies which will showcase their products have been selected by Sebrae. “These are enterprises with both capacity and potential to export,” explains the Einne manager. The first phase of the project started in late March, comprising prospecting, selection, and assessment of the interested companies. The second phase consists of training, which is taking place right now. The micro and small businesses are multisectorial, and operate in housing and decoration, fashion, beauty and fashion, food and beverages, and information technology.
The Einne, which aims to foster the internationalization of Northeastern companies, had its first 14 editions in Fortaleza, Ceará, the state which originated the event, but from last year onwards it has become a touring event. It took place in Pernambuco in 2011 and will be hosted by Salvador this year. Next year’s edition is still pending definition. The meetings are expected to create 500,000 reals (US$ 244,600 at current exchange rates) worth of immediate deals and 35 million (US$ 17.2 million) in future ones. In 2011, deals worth 307,600 (US$ 150,500) were closed on the spot, and 30 million reals (US$ 14.6 million) was the projection of future exports made by participants.
The Einne in Salvador will include a seminar on the first day, October 23rd, and business matchmaking rounds on the other two days, October 24th and 25th. At the seminar, some cases of foreign exporting companies will be discussed, among other topics.
