Rio de Janeiro – The 6th Round of the Pre-Salt Production Sharing, scheduled to November 7, will have a record-high number of companies authorized to participate since the beginning of the sharing regimen’s auctions in 2013. Seventeen companies will participate, one more than in the 4th Round held in June 2018, which held the previous record. The 5th Round took place in September last year.
Companies approved to participate in this round includes Petrobras from Brazil and foreign companies such as Shell, BP, Chevron, Petronas, ExxonMobil, Repsol Sinopec, and Qatar Petroleum International (QPI).
The sharing rounds grant the companies oil and gas exploration and production rights in blocks with reserves in the pre-salt layer. The 6th Round will offer five areas: four in the Santos Basin (Aram, Sudoeste de Sagitário, Cruzeiro do Sul, and Bumerangue) and one in the Campos Basin (Norte de Brava).
Petrobras will act as operator witha minimum interest of 30% in the areas of Aram, Sudoeste de Sagitário, and Norte de Brava. The next two production sharing rounds are scheduled to 2020 (7th Round) and 2021 (8th Round).
