Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian oil and natural gas output was 3.559 million of barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2019, amounting to 1.299 billion of barrels of oil equivalent per day, up 8% year on year, the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) reported this Friday (31).
According to the agency, the state of Rio de Janeiro, which holds Lula and Búzios field, has increased its share of the national production. Last year, the sate was the top oil and natural gas producer, accounting for 71% of the country’s total volume produced, up 5.3% from a year before, at 2.528 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Total production in pre-salt in 2019 was 2.183 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, accounting for 61.3% of national production. The Lula Field in Santos Basin was the top producing field, posting a daily average of 1.196 million of barrels of oil equivalent per day, accounting for 33% of national production in 2019.
