São Paulo – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) released a schedule of online art and entertainment activities to mark World Refugee Day next Saturday (20).
Saturday will see three online seminars from the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), SESC-SP and the Immigration Museum, covering refugee integration, asylum and forced displacements in light of Covid-19. Another webinar will feature the launch of Passarela, a book from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), the first-ever university-level publication to teach Portuguese to refugees and migrants. Live stream “Juntos #ComOsRefugiados” (Together #WithTheRefugees) will feature online shows by artists expressing solidarity towards refugees.
On Sunday (21), exhibit “Em Casa, no Brasil” (At Home in Brazil) from NGO Estou Refugiado and SESC-Sp will go online. Also featured will be “Live de Todos os Povos” (the Live Stream of All Peoples), a showing of a documentary film on Orquestra Mundana Refugi – an orchestra of Brazilian, refugee and migrant musicians from across the world. Singer and songwriter Chico Buarque will join in.
